Admission to bachelor’s degrees
Depending on educational background/qualifications:
- Admission to all Bachelor of Arts programmes in the Department of Music requires the entrance exam to be passed and evidence of level B2 in German
For equivalent general education obtained elsewhere: see notes for the Ordinance of the Higher Education Council on Admission to Universities of Applied Science (UAS) and UAS Institutes of 20/05/2021.
- The equivalence of the qualifications will be verified.
- If equivalence is verified: admission to all Bachelor of Arts programmes in the Department of Music with successful entrance exam and evidence of level B2 in German.
Admission to master’s degrees
Depending on course:
Admission is granted to:
- Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in the field of the chosen master’s degree from a Swiss or equivalent foreign university or university of applied sciences.
- In addition, an entrance exam must be passed.
Admission is granted to:

Admission to continuing education programmes
Depending on the programme:
Admission is granted to:
- Individuals with a degree in music from a Swiss or equivalent foreign university or university of applied sciences and practical experience.
- An entrance exam must also be passed in some cases.

Extraordinary admission to degree and continuing education programmes
The admission committee may employ an individualized admission procedure ("sur-dossier" process) to grant admission to the degree or further education programme for applicants showcasing exceptional artistic talents who do not meet the requirements. An entrance exam must be successfully completed in such instances.
Transfer of credits for completed study
To transfer credits from another university in the form of ECTS points, contact the programme director of your preferred degree or continuing education programme and provide us with your performance record and the confirmation of exmatriculation from the university in question. In order for potential credit transfers to be considered, an application for dispensation must be submitted before the course commences.
