Program Overview
The program focuses on Shanghai and Hangzhou, two key cities that represent the diversity and dynamism of China’s innovation landscape. Participants will explore a curated selection of leading companies, research institutions and tech hubs that exemplify China’s approach to growth, digitalization and entrepreneurship.
Interactive sessions, site tours and local engagements will provide valuable perspectives on how Chinese enterprises scale innovation and adapt to global market forces. The program is designed to foster critical thinking and comparative analysis around the central question: How do Chinese companies drive innovation and economic success in today’s global landscape?

- Business Opportunities in a Changing China: Learning from successful Chinese business leaders and entrepreneurs with visits to companies featuring Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, E-Mobility, E-Commerce, Biotechnology and Renewable Energy.
- Visits to Key Innovation Hubs: Exploring Zhangjiang Science City in Shanghai, Future Sci-Tech City in Hangzhou and Swissnex Shanghai.
- University Collaborations: Engaging with professors and students at Shanghai University.
- Cultural Immersion: Discovering landmarks and modern urban developments in Shanghai and Hangzhou.
Dates, Registration Deadline and Fees
Study Week October 2026:
- October 11 – October 17, 2026 (latest arrival in Shanghai: Sunday morning, October 11, 2026. Earliest departure: Saturday, October 17, 2026)
- Registration deadline: July 31, 2026.
- Please provide personal travel insurance since cancellations will not be possible once your participation is confirmed.
- Study trip fee: CHF 2’650.- for Kalaidos “MPK” students, CHF 2’950.- for other Kalaidos students, Kalaidos employees and Kalaidos alumni, CHF 3’450.- for other participants.
- The study trip fee includes hotel accommodation (October 11 – October 17, 2026), local transportation and meals.
- All participants are responsible for organizing, booking and paying for their own intercontinental flight, travel insurance, visa arrangements (where required) etc.
Participants
Students enrolled in Kalaidos Bachelor’s or Master’s programs are given priority for participation and may take the study trip as a Marktplatzkurs worth 6 ECTS credits. Kalaidos employees, Kalaidos alumni and other participants are also welcome to join. Good English communication skills are required.
