Executive MBA FH with Focus on Applied International Management and Affairs

 

Objective

Executive MBA with a focus in Applied International Management and Affairs enables participants to immerse themselves in cross-cultural aspects of business and world affairs.

 

The Applied Cross-Cultural Modules intend to:

  • Show how socio-cultural norms and ideologies are entrenched in business culture, and as a result exert influence on the way business is conducted in that country
  • Expose students to key dimensions in communication and negotiation dynamics, including the impact of power, information and culture on the negotiation process and outcome.
  • Explore the nexus of states, markets and global trends.

 

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding and appreciate the role history, philosophy, religion and ethics of a certain state or region play in business operations.
  • Gain first hand expertise of different cultures and acknowledge their importance in building fruitful personal exchanges and to promote successful business cooperation
  • Be able to analyze the current state of economic, legal, environmental, and management practices in other states and project their impact on business decisions.
  • Critically evaluate the importance of strengths and weaknesses of one’s position and understand the other party’s position in the negotiation processes, as well as lay down strategies, deploy tactics, and master communication and inter-relational skills vital for international commercial negotiation and communication.

Kalaidos University of Applied Sciences has many years’s experience of running business education for professionals.

 

The Executive MBA is delivered in an executive format, designed to enable working managers and professionals to combine work and studies. It is a major achievement to study for an Executive MBA while remaining in the full-time employment, and you must learn to manage a range of demands on your time including family, work and studies. At the International Management Institute of the Kalaidos University of Applied Sciences we give you support in your learning experience. 

The Executive MBA takes four semesters to complete. Modules run in focused  2, 2 ½ and 3 day blocks, depending on the study semester and the course.

Foundation: General Management (1st and 2nd semester)
Specialization: International Management (3rd semester)

EMBA Experience
  • Stimulating and interactive. Students engage in discussions with faculty and each other and share ideas and real work experiences. This approach leads you to acquire knowledge and skills and derive sustainable solutions to real business problems.
  • Theory and practice. We work with the Swiss industry to bring you the Knowledge Transfer Days – we believe learning takes place not only in the classroom but also through practice. Knowledge Transfer Days give you an opportunity to showcase and apply international management and cross-cultural management skills you have learned in the class.
  • Diversity. Each Executive MBA class is large enough to provide a diversity of experience, yet the small class size still gives you an opportunity to forge team spirit. Open dialogue is key to learning.
  • The power of teams. Your learning team is central to your experience from day one. Collaborative, dynamic and exciting environment is supported by leadership and team building activities and a business simulation game.
  • Leadership and top management presentations. Distinguished leaders from business, industry and politics will share their experiences with you through a series of discussion platforms and lectures throughout the semester. In addition, our annual Business Forum introduces to you experts from across the Swiss industry.
  • International Business Experience. The one-week international study trip provides an opportunity for you to apply your learning in an international context. The week typically involves a day of lectures at a leading business school and a chance to work with students from another country followed by four days of company visits. Current destination: India

Admission

Candidates have

  • at least a bachelor level or equivalent university degree without business focus
  • or a higher Swiss national diploma with business focus
  • or a BSc / BBA in Business: Direct Entry into 3rd semester
  • at least two years of business experience since attainment of highest previous degree
  • an officially recognized English certificate on European level B2 or have successfully passed the free Kalaidos English admission test

When to apply

We do not have a formal deadline for the receipt of applications, and places are offered on a rolling basis.

However, to secure your place on the program, we encourage you to apply by the end August for October start and by the end February for the April start.
